Some say that Flickr is nothing but a bunch of bad wannabe photographers patting each other on the back. Usually there is an element of culteral snobbery there. And there are some pics that I would not have taken. But there are a bunch of folks who shoot for the thrill of creating something. Many are very good. Not everyone can play for the Yankees, but many are good. Same with Photography, besides, what would happen if all those professionals who left thier profession to enter photography full time? What the amateur community is producing is both paying for the huge gains in hardware and software (camera envy is real) as well as opening up the way we view the world.
